Teen idols

Like teen idols today, here of some of the idols girls back then admired!

Frankie Avalon
"If a miss wants to be kissed instead of cuddled, And to this you are in  doubt as what to say, When a girl changes from bobby socks to stockings, Then she is old enough to give her heart away."
    Bobby Darin
"We'll meet beyond the shore we'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea and never again I'll go sailin'"

Fabian
"Turn me loose, Turn me lose, I say.
Gonna rock and roll As long as the band's gonna play"

Bobby Rydell

"Headin' down the shore (Wildwood days) to have a ball once more
Whoa whoa whoa whoa those Wildwood days, wild, wild Wildwood days"
Ricky Nelson
"Some people call me a teenage idol, Some people say they envy me.
I guess they got no way of knowing how lonesome I can be"

Paul Anka
"And they call it Puppy Love just because we're seventeen.
Tell them all, oh, please tell them it isn't fair to take away my only dream."

Though there are some cool names if you wanna name your kid a retro name in todays generation from Parents Connect :)
ElvisConnieJerryEtta
Rock 'n' roll—and teen idols—broke on to the scene in the mid-'50s, along with outta-sight names like Elvis, Jerry (Lee Lewis), Etta (James) and Connie (Francis). Let's just hope the resurgence of hip names like this will curtail the onslaught of a bunch of babies named Bieber.

Dick & Jane
Sure, today's kids are down with Dora and Diego, but back in the '50s, Dick and Jane were the coolest cats around!

WardJune & Wally
TV's favorite '50s family (That's the Leave It to Beaver crew, for the youngsters in the house) was full of fab baby names. Of course, you've got to be careful here—"Beaver" doesn't have quite the same name appeal today that it had back then.

Bud, BuddyBuster
The "nicknames as first names" trend is as hip as it gets.

CharlieSallyLinusPattyMarcieLucyViolet
Names from the classic Peanuts comics are still topping the U.S. baby name charts! Heck, even Snoop D-O-Double-G is rockin' a name from thePeanuts gang. (We'd recommend shying away from calling your kid "Pigpen" or "the Little Red-Headed Girl," though.)

RichieArthurJoanieRalph
Pay homage to the Happy Days crew with one of these super-keen names! And if your kiddo is particularly cool, consider referring to him as the Fonz.

Mens Hairstyles

Mens Hairstyles!
I made my Prom date my senior year do a "Pompadour Hairstyle" :)
The Pompadour Hairstyle
Ricky Nelson
James Dean
Elvis Presley
Johnny Cash

"Pompadour haircut". The hairstyle was short in the back including the sides and the top left being longer. Then the front being combed up with hair gel/hair grease to hold it back and to show some of that shine! A.K.A Rockabilly

Rock Hudson Quiff Hairstyle
Rock Hudson
This style was best used with a man with thicker hair. The hair has to be cut so that it is longer in the front than in the back. The side of the mans hair would be slicked back using gel to hold it back and the hair in the front is combed straight up then is flipped either to the back or the front!
(Similar to Pompadour)

Conservative Hairstyle
 Don Draper "Mad Men"
Jimmy Stewart

This was a more professional look for older men. They would have their hair cut short and applied gel to practically glue to their head. To style they would have hair parted and combed straight over to the other side and same in the back. Yes gel was used; cream was not necessarily used.

Slicked Back Hairstyle
Bela Lugosi

Hair cream was used and was applied liberally to plaster the hair to the mans head, and heir hair was combed to the front and back also the side and to the top.

Duck Tail Hairstyle
Tony Curtis

This style was styled by parting the hair on one side, combing the top over to the other side, and combing the sides straight back to then have them both meet in the middle of the back of the head. Hair cream was used to hold the hair completely in place!
